The artistic process is deeply personal and unique, with motivation coming from varied avenues, reflected through individual experiences. Art has the ability to transcend borders, ideologies, and cultures, as well as reshape our living environment. At their most intriguing, these artistic disciplines allow us to understand complex realities in emotional ways, provide a glimpse of hidden worlds, beauty in mundane places or a unique language displayed in visual form. RICCILLI Art Contemporary seeks to document the artist’s process and working environment, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of the finished work.

RICCILLI Art Contemporary began as a private exhibition space, and continues to promote emerging and established contemporary artists with pop-up exhibitions and an online presence focused on specific participatory projects and artist-exclusive contributions.

We want to learn about new work by artists worldwide. While RICCILLI Art Contemporary is not discipline specific, it is primarily focused on documenting works in progress through ‘in studio’ visits, coordinating interviews between people working in different artistic mediums, and highlighting projects created exclusively for RICCILLI.

morgan slade_riccilli art contemoraryMorgan Riccilli Slade studied Fine Art, Photography and Photographic Theory at the University of California at Santa Cruz. After graduating in 1991 he has exhibited work in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, Miami, and Sweden. He continues to work in multiple mediums in art and design.

The Project

RICCILLI Art Contemporary is committed to the photo documentation of the artistic process within varied artistic disciplines and is defined by three distinct projects.

RICCILLI : SHOOTS : EVERYBODY is a compilation of photo documents all taken by Morgan Riccilli Slade.  These photographs are the unique collaboration between Morgan and the artists that have invited him into their working spaces.

: SHOOTS : derives its content from the coordinated pairings of artists documenting the working spaces of other artists, some of varied and diverse disciplines, these photographs are artistic documents in and of themselves due to the freedom to employ any photo tool available.

RICCILLI : SHOOTS : EVERYTHING takes it’s inspiration from travel employing only a cellphone as the tool of documentation.

OPEN CALL: We are currently looking for Artists to participate in the : SHOOTS : category of RICCILLI.

: SHOOTS : is the final installment in our documentation of the creative process. Participating artists are asked to photograph (shoot) another artist in their creative environment and/or vice versa. RICCILLI is not discipline specific, so varied artistic practices are encouraged. will host the images on the site, providing the artists a marketing opportunity, as well as the possibility of being chosen for a print compilation of the project.  Any form of photo tool is acceptable, 20 shots minimum, subject must appear in at least 5.  RICCILLI is a curated site, so not all submissions will be included. If your proposal is accepted, you will be contacted by RICCILLI with further details.  : SHOOTS : is an ongoing project, so the submission process will remain open indefinitely.
